I am getting close to spinning the boat again and I have been thinking a lot about what I need to do to be safer this time around. I want to build a lift cradle and weld a metal plate to the bottom of all of my jacks, so they don’t slip. That was not cool.
Also, I want to use large wheels welded onto a metal support structure for the spin. Keeping the jack system, the existing armature, and the wheel systems all separate should give me enough redundancy and flexibility to make adjustments if I need to, and always have 2 systems in operation to keep things safe.
I’m thinking through a wheel braking system as well, but perhaps the geared chain hand winch will be enough.
Anyway… the metalwork I need to have done will require that I get a few more tools and learn how to use them, so I am heading back to the local Tech-shop to take a few classes. I start tonight, and I am super excited.
