Switching to thinner plywood for the next planks

Midship was easy, but the fore and aft of the boat are very curvy. For the aft I used 1/2 inch plywood cut into 1 1/2 inch strips. I had to use the table saw to cut relief hashing every 4 inches. Even then I had a lot of snapping.
This time I’m trying 1/8 inch plywood cut into 3 inch strips. The first layer leaves me wondering if it was the right move.
